BellPass is the app schools use to handle early dismissals, late arrivals, absences and field-trip permission forms. This page explains what information it keeps, why, and who can see it.
Who is responsible
Each school decides who gets an account and what happens with its students’ information. BellPass runs the app for the school and only uses the information to provide it.
What we keep
- Parents and guardians: name, email, phone number, and which students they are linked to.
- Students: name and grade, entered by their guardian and confirmed by the school. Students do not have accounts.
- Requests: type, date, time, the reason and note a guardian adds, an optional photo, and the school’s decision. Photos are deleted after 90 days; the request itself stays in the student’s history.
- Field trips: each guardian’s answer to a permission form.
- School staff: name, email and role (office or security).
- Alerts: if you turn on alerts, the address your phone or browser gives us to deliver them.
How it is used
- To show the school office each request so it can approve or decline it.
- To show security which students are cleared to leave or arrive.
- To tell guardians about decisions and forms, by alert or email.
- To send the school a weekly attendance summary.
We do not sell information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics cookies. The only cookie keeps you signed in.
Who can see it
- A guardian sees only their own requests and the students linked to them.
- The school office and security see their own school’s requests and students.
- Services that run the app on our behalf: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting), Brevo (email), and Apple, Google or Mozilla to deliver phone alerts.
How long we keep it
Information stays while the school uses BellPass, so the office keeps each student’s history, including after graduation. A school can deactivate an account at any time. To correct or delete your information, contact your school’s front office or write to us.
Security
Every account signs in with a one-time link sent by email; there are no passwords to steal. Each account can only reach the information its role allows, enforced by the database itself.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
